The Tennessee Valley Quilters Association (TVQA) began in 1980 when a small group of nineteen quilting enthusiasts gathered in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. TVQA is a regional non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote interest in and an appreciation for quilts and quiltmaking. Our membership spans the Tennessee River valley to include quilt guilds from Tennessee and Alabama, as well as a few members from other states. TVQA sponsors several events throughout the year and offers members opportunities to learn about quilts and quiltmaking, exchange ideas, and share their quilting experiences with others.

Severe Weather Policy

The following Severe Weather Policy for attendance at quarterly TVQA Board meetings was adopted at the May 2016 meeting:

The safety of the TVQA guild representatives is of utmost concern. Remember, your safety comes first! The following guidelines apply when the National Weather Service issues a severe weather warning:

If the schools in Rutherford County are closed on the day of the TVQA meeting due to weather conditions, or if Rutherford County is under a severe weather warning, then there will be no TVQA meeting.

If the schools in the county where the guild representatives live are closed on the TVQA meeting date due to weather conditions, or if your county is under a severe weather warning, then your guild will be excused from attendance for that meeting.

If you will not be at the TVQA meeting due to severe weather, contact the TVQA President, Vice President or Secretary either the night before the meeting or before 9:00 a.m. the day of the meeting.
